2.3 STUDENT VISA

To make a valid Student Visa application, the applicant must be accepted into a full time course that is 
a registered course of study in Australia. Courses of study include primary,secondary and tertiary courses.
 
The key pre requisites for this type of visa include the student be genuine and have funds for health insurance 
and the means to support oneself during the course of study as work rights are limited.
 
On completion of cetain tertiary courses it may be possible for the overseas student to be able to apply in 
Australia for permanent residency. This is possible even without work experience-- see ammendments to 
migration law 01-07-2001.

- Australian Sponsored Overseas Student (points reqd.)
- Designated area sponsored overseas student
 
Requirements for this class require succesfull completion of degree,diploma or trade qualification from a 
recognised  Australian educational supplier and that the duration of the course was a minimum of one 
year study.
